Glimpsing into March: Exhibitions and Events

Wall Space Gallery received an uproarious response last March for our show INSPIRING CHANGE: An Exhibition in Celebration of International Women's Day. We want to contribute more to this important discussion, with more topics and artists we are anxious to explore. This year, from March 5th to 29th, we will present works by Kelly Grace, Erin Vincent, Lori Victor, and Sharon Kelly, in:

#MakeItHappen #MakeArtHappen to include work by Erin Vincent

For our exhibition we have drawn inspiration from the theme of International Women's Day 2015, "Make It Happen." A key focus of this year's event is, "Make it happen for equal representation of women in the arts." With this in mind, we have incorporated #MakeArtHappen to bring things back towards a cultural sphere. The latter theme is a tag that has existed in many contexts but has yet to be directed specifically towards a feminist discourse. By combining these two motifs, one adopted by a society pushing for gender equality and the other from a society encouraging a more creative way of life , we can offer the perspectives of talented female artists in the hopes of generating positive discourse.

We'll continue to provide details as the works begin to trickle in to the gallery. We hope that you will join us by spreading the word and help open up a wider conversation by simultaneously using the hashtags #MakeItHappen#MakeArtHappen throughout the month.

In addition, our neighbors at Green Tree Eco Fashion have partnered with the Zonta Club of Ottawa to bring a Fashion Show and Cocktail fundraiser in honor of International Women's Day. The event will be hosted at Wall Space Gallery in Westboro Village on March 5th from 6-9 p.m. (with catering from Thyme and Again.) Questions and ticket purchases through Zonta International Ottawa.

We've extended our Flavours of February show until March 1st! Join us again soon for more information about the upcoming exhibition #MakeItHappen#MakeArtHappen.

Until next time,
