Flavours of February

Enliven your life with art that warms the heart this February.

Wall Space Gallery, Westboro Village, presents the work of Marjolyn van der Hart, Sheila Davis, Nathalie Mantha, and Nick Chase. Their works -- which embody themes such as Romance, Memory, Imagination, and Beauty -- are just the pick-me-up you need to brighten these winter days.

Marjoyln van der Hart

Van der Hart’s artistic practice is both joyful and thought provoking. Using nostalgic imagery from retro print media, the artist effectively creates an emotional response inspired by both imagination and memory.

Sheila Davis

Davis successfully explores visual impressions of sensory reactions in the landscapes she captures. Her ability to pictorially articulate the feeling of temperature, natural textures, emotions and the spirit of a place is done through  vibrant, colourful paints and contrasting surface textures.

Nathalie Mantha

Flowers have become a universal symbol for love, life, milestones and festivity. For Nathalie Mantha, bouquets evoke fond memories of childhood. Her bold floral paintings serve as a refreshing and romantic reminder of spring and new beginnings ahead.

Nick Chase

Glass artist Nick Chase has been working on new designs for his iconic photo boxes, already a favourite at Wall Space gallery. Chase uses photography to, “record the beauty…in everyday settings, which for others may go unnoticed.” These moments are then fixed into permanence through a labour intensive process of transferring the photo's black silhouette onto each hand blown and coated translucent glass block -- a striking juxtaposition with any luminescent source.
