Exhibition Dates: June 14th- July 6th, 2014
Meet the artists on June 14th, 2-5 pm
Julia Mori’s “Natural Geometry” is constructed to put architectonic organization against the organic. Each plank of walnut and oak, salvaged from storm damaged trees, become a unique canvas with live edges and wood grain that maps hundreds of years of history. Mori’s intent is for the designs to amplify the woods inherent qualities, whether by following the natural rhythm of the wood or deliberately going against the grain. A dialogue between geometric order and cellular growth emerges to create a language in constant flux.
Join us for our opening reception of three solo shows featuring Ottawa artist Sharon Kelly, as well as Toronto artists Ian Busher and Julia Mori. Wall Space Gallery is proud to host artists who are masters in their mediums, and are especially delighted to present three strong cases of formalist artists – those who focus primarily on the inherent qualities and formal elements of their medium. Whether it be canvas, wood, or aluminum each artist has created their own unique landscape through abstraction, exploration, and experimentation.
