Artist Opening Reception May 12 from 6-8:30 (including live performance from 6pm)

“I am interested, not in the conclusion, but in a half told story.”

In her latest body of work, the product of three years of philosophical inquiry, acclaimed Toronto artist Nava Waxman leaps into the void which separates the permanent and the ephemeral – questioning what art is and what it can be, with poignantly beautiful results.

Presented at WALL SPACE Gallery May 12 – June 5, Untitled Wall, showcases a selection of exquisite photographs which represent the only tangible results of fleeting in-studio wall paintings and accompanying live performances. Coupled with these photographs is a selection of encaustic paintings by Waxman. The highly tactile surfaces of the encaustic paintings are rooted in the ancient traditions of the beeswax material. Their presence creates a frission between the actual and trace natures of the two media.
